NOTICES FOR SUNDAY 25th  JUNE 2017

This week’s events:

Tuesday 27th June: 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm  Tuesday Circle.

Tuesday 27th June: 7.15 pm to 8.15 pm Choir practice.

Thursday 29th June: 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. Coffee morning.

Thursday 29th June: 11.30 am to 12.00 noon Silent Prayer meeting in church.

Thursday 29th June: 7.30 pm The Housegroup will meet at the home of Margaret and Dave Cooper, 15 Cloverley Road. The subject will be ‘I am The Way’ and new people are always welcome to join in. This will be the last Housegroup meeting until September.

Saturday 1st July Talking of God: Session 3 is entitled “Conversations in Context  —  how our world can frame our conversations”.  See further notice below.

Forthcoming Events:

Monday 3rd July: It is planned to have a country drive in cars for people who do not have access to a car or do not drive out of Bridlington and so find it difficult to go out alone. We will be leaving Bridlington at approx. 1.30 pm and returning between 4.30 pm and 5.00 pm, stopping en route for a cup of tea at Spring Garden Centre, Sigglesthorne.  Anyone wishing to go and drivers offering their cars, please sign the list on the notice board by NEXT SUNDAY 25th June 2017. Drivers expenses will be subsidised. Further details from Barbara Holloway, tel: 605427.

Thursday 6th July: 10.00 am to 12.00 noon  There will be a sale of quality second hand ladies clothing  ….   ‘A Twist on a Swish!’  … Come and grab yourself a bargain or 2 for the summer. Many designer labels. Coffee and biscuits will be served and all in aid of church funds. Maggie Davies and Wendy Holliday are asking for donations of new or nearly new ladies clothes and will be collecting any donations at the coffee mornings on Thursdays 22nd June and 29th June. Also on Thursday 6th July: is our annual welcome to a coach party from Leeds will take place. The people who come are refugees, asylum seekers and others involved with the ‘Learning English’ scheme run by churches in Leeds. They will arrive about 11.30 am, have drinks and use of toilet facilities, and then head to the beach, leaving about 3.30 pm. Please give them all a traditional Yorkshire and Sewerby welcome!

Talking of God: Talking of God is a new faith sharing experience, helping individuals and congregations to talk about their faith journey. Revd.Nic is chairing this exciting new sharing opportunity for the Circuit at Sewerby at two remaining Saturday sessions: 1st July and 22nd July. You can come to as many sessions as you want.

Other Notices

Preaching Plan June to August 2017

A big Thank You to everyone who opened their gardens and sold plants, tickets and refreshments, giving us the opportunity to see all the beauty around us and to meet new people. Thanks also to all the visitors and £607.55 was raised for church funds.

Certain changes have been made to the Plan which affect Sunday evening services at Sewerby during July and August as follows:

Sunday 23rd July  6.00 pm – There will be no service at Sewerby and all are invited to join with SJB when Revd. John Hughes will lead a service of Holy Communion.

Sunday 13th August 6.00 pm service – This will be led at Sewerby by Revd. Nic Bentley and we will be joined by members of SJB.

Sunday 27th August 6.00 pm – There will be no service at Sewerby and all are invited to join with SJB when Revd. John Fisher will lead a service of Holy Communion.

If anyone wants a DBS check completing, Nic will be at St.John’s Burlington on Saturday 8th July from 10.30 am to 11.30 am to assist and verify documents. You will need to take along proof of identity and proof of address.

The Prayer Handbook for 2017/2018:  If anyone would like a copy of the Prayer Handbook, please let Barbara Holloway  know by Monday 3rd July 2017. The cost is £3.50.

Any new notices for Sunday 2nd July should be given to Sally Robson by pm on Wednesday 28th June.
